3Transportation & Logistics calculator FAQ
- How do carriers calculate dimensional weight?
- Multiply length × width × height and divide by the carrier's DIM divisor. Carriers bill on whichever is greater — the actual weight or the dimensional weight. The dimensional weight calculator shows both.
- How do I find my trucking cost per mile?
- Add your fixed costs (truck payment, insurance, permits) and variable costs (fuel, maintenance, tires, driver pay), then divide by the miles driven. The result is your break-even rate per mile.
- How is mileage reimbursement calculated?
- Multiply the business miles driven by the reimbursement rate per mile. The mileage reimbursement calculator uses the current IRS standard rates by default and lets you enter your employer's rate instead.
