Quick summary
Enter the coin, how much you hold, and your average buy price to see your live unrealized profit or loss, ROI percentage, and break-even price. The current price is pulled live from CoinGecko (toggle to enter it manually for a hypothetical). This is unrealized gain — you only lock it in when you sell, and selling triggers fees and, in most countries, a taxable event.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate crypto profit?
Current value minus cost basis. If you bought 2 ETH at $1,500 ($3,000 total) and ETH is now $2,000, your holding is worth $4,000 — a $1,000 unrealized profit, or +33% ROI. This calculator does it live against the current market price.
What is unrealized vs realized profit?
Unrealized profit is the gain on paper while you still hold the asset — it fluctuates with price. Realized profit is locked in when you sell. Only realized gains are taxable (in most jurisdictions), but only unrealized gains can still evaporate if the price falls.
What is my break-even price?
Your average buy price — the price the coin must reach for your position to return to zero profit/loss. Below it you're at a loss, above it you're in profit (before accounting for trading fees and taxes).
Do I owe taxes on crypto gains?
In most countries, selling or trading crypto at a profit is a taxable capital gain, and even crypto-to-crypto swaps can be taxable events. Holding is generally not taxable. Rules vary widely — track your cost basis and consult a tax professional, since this calculator shows pre-tax figures.
